Sleeping is important. That should go without saying, but still, sleeping allows you to recover from the travails of a hard day’s work. You should do what you can to make sure that your sleep is as restful and comfortable as you can manage.
So, when you choose a bed, you should be mindful of what will work best for you, especially if you have a partner who has their own preferences.
This guide is an attempt to give you some criteria to use to determine what you will want in a king sized bed. You can get prince king sized beds here, but here are some tips to help you choose your bed.
The Mattress
The most important part of any bed, the mattress requires the most careful consideration. Take some time to think of what makes you most comfortable; do you prefer firmness, or softness?
A good way to determine if a mattress will work for you is to check reviews for it online. Specifically, pay close attention to reviews that aren’t attached to 1-star or 5-star ratings; those ratings in the middle will often be attached to more honest reviews, reviews that will sometimes alert you to issues that a mattress may have.
As a note, memory foam mattresses tend to be more highly rated than traditional box spring mattresses, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t get a perfectly fine rest on a traditional bed. It ultimately depends on what works best for you. And that’s especially important, since a mattress is a long term investment, for you to choose the right one for you.
The Frame
Your bed frame is not only necessary to make sure your bed stays off the ground, but it will likely define the aesthetic of your bedroom. While the mattress is still more important, the bed frame should not be an afterthought for you.
Firstly, be sure that the frame fits the mattress. There are two major kinds of king-sized mattresses, standard king and California king. Standard kings are slightly wider, while California kings are longer. So, whenever you choose your frame, make sure that it fits your mattress.
Once you’ve determined the right size, you should consider what aesthetic you want in your bedroom. If you already have some bedroom furniture, you’ll want to choose a bed frame that fits with that.
If you do not have much in the way of bedroom furniture, though, choosing a bed frame makes an excellent opportunity to define your aesthetic. A bed frame doesn’t need to be particularly opulent; in fact, a sleek, modern aesthetic, one where the frame doesn’t take up that much space, can be molded into many different room designs.
The Sheets
While sheets are not as much of an investment as either the frame or the mattress, one should take care with sheets. For starters, determine what the dimensions of the mattress are. An important thing to note is the depth of the mattress; a standard fitting sheet will work for a mattress that is 7 to 14 inches deep, while deep pocket sheets will work for 15 inch deep mattresses, and extra-deep pocket sheets are necessary for beds that are thicker than that.
As far as thread count, while thread count is important, the kind of material used for the sheet is more important. Egyptian cotton, while more expensive on average, tends to be softer and stronger than other cotton sheets.
Other Things to Consider
Other things to consider include if a bed company has a good customer service department in case of any issues (be sure to see what warranties are offered on your bed!), if you have a pillow that will provide appropriate cushioning for your neck, and whether or not you need a bed that has storage space underneath it.
This is a lot to consider, of course, but considering the importance of a good, solid bed, it’s vital to consider all this so that you can ensure you have as good a night’s rest as you can have for years to come.
