Before I start all the Christmas content here on the blog I wanted to share one last look at our fall porch. My first fall porch look this year was a little understated and you know me I have to go all out for our porch… so I of course had to share this years ultimate fall porch with you! I will share with you how I approach our fall porch each year, it has roughly the same elements, with little twists to make them a bit different each year. Here is how this years fall porch turned out.
Here’s What You Need:
- Loads of Pumpkins
- Gourds of Shapes & Sizes
- Corn Stalks
- Faux Fall Trees
- Colorful Mums
- Purple Kale
- Happy Fall Sign
My generally thought on achieving the best ultimate fall porch is the more grandiose you can make each layer of your look the better. The bitter truth to the designing of the porch is that I usually am moving pumpkins, back and forth, as well as up and down a few times before I get the ultimate look I am going for. I wish I had a better system to share, that would not require you picking up and setting down the same pumpkin a few times, but really there isn’t. In the design world, I am trying to achieve a perfect balance in reference to visual weight, scale, and variations of color. Like I said I work in layers, from the back to the front. I set the layer near the doors, move to the top of the steps, and work my way forward.
One thing I notice some people don’t take advantage of is turning mums on the side when placing them between the pumpkins on the steps. The way the moms fill in dead space, sometimes fit better when traditionally standing them up.
Whether you like an understated fall look or an over the top fall look I hope you can gather inspiration from everything on the blog! Hope you all have enjoyed my fall content this year and are looking forward to some Christmas content coming soon. Thank you for stopping by the blog today and every day.
