Tufted Sectional Sofa

It’s time for the full review of our tufted sectional sofa! I got this sofa a few months ago and wanted to really live with it before we gave it a review on the blog. So many of you have been patiently waiting for this, but I wanted to make sure I was able to really live with it before giving my thoughts. It’s super important to me that everything I recommend to you is something I actually love, which is why these reviews aren’t on the blog the same time that you might see the products on Instagram. Without any further wait, let’s get into my review of our tufted sectional sofa

I found this tufted sectional sofa at Wayfair! I actually discovered it through my friend Liz’s blog [HERE]. After she shared it I loved it, but I never really had a place to put it until now. In the library, I wanted a bit of a slimmer sofa than the Six Penny one that was previously in here. When I was searching around on Wayfair I remembered this Greyleigh sofa and loved the slim tufted look of it. They have so many different sizes of the sofa so you really could get this for any size room. Head over here to check out all the available sizes! They have everything from U shaped sofas, sectionals, sofas, chairs, chaise sofas, & more in this tufted style.

The Six Penny sofa that was here before moved to our back living room, which we’ve been working on a lot this year [will have updates coming later this year]. The tufted sectional sofa is super comfortable to sit on and slimmer in the space making it easier to get through this room. The library is between our front living room and our kitchen, the stairs to our bedrooms also come down in the library. As you can probably guess this is a very high traffic room! The sixpenny sofa was fine here, but with it’s super large & relaxed footprint it had it didn’t always work in this room that also acts as a hallway. We needed a slim, low lying, and more structured sofa so that it would look nice when guests and visitors walked through this room.

We made a few updates to the sofa so that it will function better for our family. Jose added wheels onto the sofa, making it super easy to move as needed! Once I got it in the library I realized I wanted it to be a little longer. They didn’t sell single seats to add to the sectional, so Jose did it himself.

How to add the wheels to the sofa:

We love adding wheels to furniture to give them a custom look. For this sofa we wanted to add them to give a vintage flair & also to add a little height to the sofa. We ordered [THESE] wheels from Amazon & they come in a pack of 4. They simply screw into the bottom of the sofa legs with the hardware they come with & the best part about these is that they lock so they stay in place.

How to add the additional section to the sofa:

We wanted to extend our sofa a tiny bit, so we did what we do best & we did a little DIY to make it happen:

The latches are inlayed slightly on the main sofa side. The traditional end that attaches protrudes slightly to allow for the latches to meet and connect to one another.

To add the smaller section to the main section of the sofa, remove the latches from the main section of the sofa. Measure the amount the latch is recessed in from the edge of the sofa. Add 3/8 of inch to the measurement, to create a wood spacer that will have the latch slightly protrude 3/8 of inch past flush to allow for the main sofa latches to connect to the newly added smaller section.

On the top of the seat of the main sofa section, drill a 5/8 inch hole inches from the end. Repeat his step on the backrest as well. Tap in a 1/2 dowel in, and slide the backrest with the 5/8 inch hole onto the dowel to keep it from pivoting at the seam.

Visuals on how we did it:

You know I love slipcovers for my sofa’s, it makes me so much less worried about spills or stains. I’m getting a custom made slipcover for this sofa! I can’t wait to share with you guys what the sofa looks like with the slipcover. The slipcover is not finished yet, so stay tuned for a future post once we get the custom made cover. If you want a slipcover made for any of your sofas I recommend searching for a local seamstress who makes slipcovers! You can often find someone on facebook marketplace, ebay, or etsy who will make a custom slipcover for you. This is a great way to be able to preserve and enjoy your sofa for years to come.

Some final thoughts on this sectional so far:
  • The sofa is not very deep, it’s very low, & has a structured feel. It’s what we needed and wanted for this space, but if you are looking for squishy, deep, less structured this is not the one for you.
  • Jose and I took a nap here the other day and can lay side by side together & it’s still cozy even though it’s more structured.
  • The seat cushion covers come off so you can wash them easily.
  • You can order this sofa in many different sizes, shapes, and styles to fit your rooms needs.
  • I have no regrets about purchasing this sofa and I have about three different spaces this sofa could fit!
  • I am excited to get a slipcover for it so I can have multiple looks for this sofa.
Things to consider when purchasing the sofa:
  • Size of your space
  • Size of your family
  • Use of sofa
  • Configuration needed for your space
  • color wanted for your space

I’m so happy with this tufted sectional sofa from Wayfair and would highly recommend if you are searching for a new sofa! It is comfy, plenty of room to seat family, and slim enough for smaller spaces. If you have questions about the sofa be sure to check it out on Wayfair, they answer so many FAQ’s. Hope this review and update of our sofa was helpful! Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today and every day.
