Cozy Cottage Kitchen Island

This past weekend I took you guys on a little tour of our cozy cottage kitchen island in my Instagram stories. It wasn’t much, but I wanted to share how our kitchen island packed a lot of punch in our farmhouse. You see, I am forever blogging about living in the “in-between” our house is always under construction & that’s not a complaint, I like it like that. I like making changes, using my creativity, being busy on projects.. all of it. One thing that we are waiting on right now is a pantry. While we wait for the pantry to be done I made our island into it’s very own pantry & it worked so well for our needs! The butler pantry in our farmhouse is going in this week so I wanted to take a few last photos of this island in the space before we moved it out to replace it with a little smaller piece since we don’t need all that island storage any longer…

She’s big and beautiful huh?! She is a piece from our shop, The Found Cottage, & quite ironically she’s back there now since I took these photos. She has four very deep drawers that held so much stuff. Each drawer had a “theme”: one was plastic utensils, paper plates, tin foil, baggies, and all of that good stuff. Another drawer held Cope’s snacks & food of his. & it went on from there. The drawers held so much! For all of our overflow, extra food, back ups, & larger items that weren’t great in the drawers, those things were located under the island in large baskets that I found [see it styled with baskets here]. The baskets held so much & were quite heavy so Cope didn’t really bother them.

For the last photos I really wanted to style the piece differently & without the baskets to give you another look that the piece could hold. The baskets area great, but plants & cookbooks are also a great route to go. Still useful and beautiful! This island was great for us during the season of our farmhouse that we didn’t have a pantry & it offered a great work space for us, but I’m excited for the new pantry to go in and to show you the new kitchen island!

I hope you guys loved seeing this cozy cottage kitchen island! I hope that it inspires you to look at antique finds & furniture finds in a different light. Also, I hope it inspired you to make use of different furniture pieces in the kitchen for pantry alternatives. I always preach that even in the “in-between” of your home it can still be cozy & efficient for your family & this is just another example of that! Thank you guys so much for stopping by the blog today & every single day. Be sure to pin this for later inspiration! xx
