Concrete Repair Made Easy: DIY Fixes with Quikrete

Cracked concrete distracts from your home’s curb appeal. Here’s how you can easily repair unsightly concrete surfaces with affordable Quikrete products.

Materials Needed to Repair Concrete

  • Quikrete Vinyl Concrete Patcher
  • Quikrete Concrete Patching Compound
  • Quikrete Polymer Modified Structural Repair
  • Quikrete Advanced Polymer Concrete Crack Sealant
  • trowel

1. Determine the Damage

The product you need to repair concrete depends on the type of damage and its depth. For instance, you can fix shallow chips and divots that don’t impact structural strength with QUIKRETE Vinyl Concrete Patcher or QUIKRETE Concrete Patching Compound.

2. Clean the Concrete

For small jobs, clean the damaged area. Then remove any loose material before mixing the patching compound and applying it with a trowel.

3. Consider the Movement

To repair cracks in concrete, you need to know whether the crack is moving or non-moving. A moving crack grows deep and wide, or has one side that’s lower than the other. A non-moving crack is thin and shallow. It appears randomly and doesn’t threaten the structure.

4. Repairing Non-Moving Cracks in Concrete

For non-moving cracks that are a half-inch or larger, use Quikrete Polymer Modified Structural Repair. This mix is rapid-setting, resists shrinkage and can be sculpted to match the contour of the existing surface.

5. Repairing Moving Cracks in Concrete

To repair moving cracks in concrete, you’ll want something that has flexibility to move like Quikrete Advanced Polymer Concrete Crack Sealant.

This material is applied from a tube, much like caulk, but is textured to blend in with concrete surfaces and dries to the touch within an hour.
