This past weekend I found something I had been looking for for the longest time. An antique horse. This may seem weird to some, but it has been on my “most wanted antique list” for a long time & thanks to one of my favorite local antique shops, Garden House Antiques, it came true! I knew as soon as I found it that it would of course be used in our home year round, but that I wanted to create a Christmas look with the horse on our mantel as well…
The horse steals the show in this look, but I paired it with more of my favorite antique finds from over the years. The antique items are not limited to the things on the mantel, they are the mantel itself, the basket in front, & even the chairs. You guys know that I love my antique & vintage items & the charm that they add to all of our spaces. On the mantel I used my favorite antique mirror find ever, an antique urn, some antique candles that I just got [HERE], my favorite antique clock, and a couple of my favorite antique books. It’s truly a very vintage Christmas mantel!
Of course to blend all of these separate parts together I brought in some winter greens in the form of a garland and a rustic little pine tree in the urn. I also wanted to share an idea with you on how you can cover up your fireplace insert when it’s not in use. I have done this in many ways in the past, but I often have ours styled or covered because we don’t use this fireplace in the front room quite yet. Today I simply put a large antique basket the hearth in front of the fireplace with lots of wild winter greens to really fill in the space and also bring some life in. I used a variety of real and faux greens here and love the eclectic farmhouse mix.
I want to play around with this mantel look some more by adding and taking some things away like adding stockings, maybe some more texture with different garland, but I wanted to share this look with you because it’s understated as far as the Christmas part goes & hopefully it inspires you by showing you how quickly you can turn your antique finds into Christmas decor! Thank you guys so much for stopping by the blog today, I hope this look as always inspired you in some way! xx
