This week we had a project begin that was a little unexpected… well. kind of. We had been planning to do this project for a while, we just didn’t know what day it would actually start. Well friends… it started this week! So if you are confused, these windows are located in our dining room with the built ins. It’s the walkway from the front door to the kitchen. When we moved in it had French doors and two small windows in the dining room. We enjoyed them for a few years, but this year they started to cause problems. The doors & windows started to be drafty & recently we had a bad accident with the doors. We had noticed the glass would bend and move easily & we were nervous to let Cope around them so we were really careful when we were in that room. We had a friend over recently and she brought her dog, & her dog saw a cat outside the French doors, & yup, you guessed it! The dog went through the glass on the French doors to get the cat & got cut up pretty bad. The glass wasn’t tempered and shattered in big pieces. That was the day we knew we had to change the doors out. So, I got to designing & planning & this is what it currently looks like…
& this is what it looked like when we moved in:
& yesterday when we started to demo:
& today in progress of the new windows:
We never used these French doors & they were so drafty that sitting in this space was always cold and not so cozy. We knew we wanted more light so we decided on three windows [we purchased ours from Andersen windows like the rest of our house as we replace them.] We chose the same panes as we did in the sunroom since this room is right next to that room the windows continue on from the sunroom which also looks beautiful from the outside. I’ll share more on this later as we work on this space, but you can already see a difference in this space so I really wanted to share!
I’m honestly not sure if this room will be staying a “dining room” because we now use the sun room as a dining room, but once we complete the windows and the wall I feel like we will be able to re-visit that subject. More windows on White Cottage Farm! That is something that brings me so much joy & I hope this blog post with more farm progress brought you a little joy today as well. Thank you for stopping by! xx
