Hello, Friends. How are you? We arrived home from Switzerland on Wednesday night and I can’t wait to tell you about our trip. What a gorgeous country! (I made a Switzerland highlight on Instagram if you’re curious.)
Other things happening at our house: Olive will head back to Montpelier this weekend. I head out to Palm Springs for Alt Summit next Friday, so I’ve got some intense work ahead of me for the next couple of weeks. We have a meeting with a window specialist on Tuesday — we want to hire him to repair and repaint the windows and shutters at the St. Martin house. And the youngest three get one more week off of school — which means lots of visits to the pool and the ice skating rink.
I’ve got to get back to more Alt Summit work, but before I go, here are a few things I’ve been wanting to share with you:
-Oh Google. Could they really be this bad? (Sadly, I read it and they are worse.)
-An analog shopping list tool from the 1970s. Why is this so appealing?
-Philadelphia’s Penn Museum hires immigrants and refugees hailing from the same regions as its artifacts.
– At least 100 defamation lawsuits have been filed by men accused of sexual misconduct against their alleged victims.
-This is cool. M.M.LaFleur is offering clothes to any woman running for office. I love this idea. Also, I’ve worked with them before and the quality is so good.
-This Administration truly hates the planet. The EPA is about to change a rule cutting mercury pollution.
-Thoughts on the housing crisis.
-The right envies the left’s cultural power, and the left envies the right’s political power, so both sides feel like they’re losing simultaneously.
-Hah! Elizabeth Warren bought an ad in billionaire Sheldon Adelson’s newspaper. The ad tells Sheldon how much he’ll pay under her wealth tax.
-We know Russia is interfering. What’s remarkable is the extent to which Republicans are trying to censor that fact.
-For the first time, I’ve been using a clam-shell style suitcase for the last six months, and I can not figure out why anyone likes them! I think I’m going to switch back to this type, where the zipper is at the front.
Here are some tweets I saved for you:
-I too have depression and this made me laugh.
-Woah. These numbers. Slavery wasn’t abolished, just redesigned.
–This tweet, and the responses to this tweet, make me scream/shake my head in disbelief.
-What if Supreme Court Justices were limited to serving 18 years? I’m interested in the idea.
-So fascinating! How architecture responds to taxes.
-A really lovely thread about a young space scientist.
-The concept of billions of dollars is almost impossible to comprehend.
I hope you have such a great weekend. I’ll meet you back here on Monday. I miss you already.
kisses,
Gabrielle
